《生化危机1复刻版》尽管没有传言中的全3D背景，但是其超高素质，逼真的光影效果让所有玩家一片惊呼。游戏中大量多边形构成的人物给人以照片般的逼真感觉。一切都是那么顺利，以为生化危机可以借助NGC强大的硬件功能重塑当年的辉煌。2002年4月30日，《生化危机1复刻版》发售了。并且立刻登上了销售榜首，极大的带动了NGC的销售势头，使得NGC在很长一段时间内超过了PS2的销量，但是由于NGC主机本身定为就较为低龄化，而且在普及量方面也相当之低，《生化危机1复刻版》并没有取得理想的成果。 游戏中的亮点许多。首先给玩家感觉最突出的就是画面了,再就是新增的场景和新增加制作的剧情,游戏中多出的女实验体剧情也是很感人的。流程和解迷方面也是变化不少，就算你玩过PS版的《生化危机1》，也是绝对可能往往被哪个迷题卡住过不去。整体难度加大，就算在普通难度下被丧尸咬上没几口就GAME OVER，而HARD和新增加的挑战模式更是难上加难，所以玩家们可以当作新游戏来玩。隐藏要素和特别是新多的游戏模式非常具有挑战性。整体素质一流，可以看出虽然是复刻版，但制作人完全是当新游戏去全力制作的，非常具有诚意。

剧情介绍
在保护伞公司(Umbrella Corporation)的老巢----“蜂巢”(Hive)的巨大地下遗传研究中心时暗藏着某种可怕的事情，在这里聚集着神秘的生物工程学家。一种致命的病毒爆发了，并快速地传播着。“红色女皇”----一台控制和监视着整个“蜂巢”的超级巨型计算机把整个中心都封闭了起来，甚至包括很小的漏洞，“杀死”了所有被困在里边的工作人员。
暂时失忆的艾丽斯(Alice，米拉-乔沃维奇饰)在自己的浴室中醒来，先后遇到了Matt（Eric Mabius)与雷恩(Rain，米歇尔-罗德里格兹饰)等人组成的特遣队。特遣队逮捕了Matt,带着他和Alice进入“蜂巢”并关闭红色女皇。然而，队员们很快发现这些工作人员们并不是真正地死去了。他们现在已成为徘徊在“蜂巢”内贪婪的象僵尸一样的活死人。人们一旦被他们咬一口或被他们抓伤就会受到感染，甚至立即变成他们一类的人。
艾丽斯和她的特遣队有3个小时来完成他们的任务，否则这些僵尸们将泛滥成灾，对整个地球构成威胁。其间，爱丽丝的记忆不断闪回，事实的真相也不断揭开。为了接近红色女皇，小队成员必须在这个象蜂巢一样的迷宫里，穿过一连串一个比一个恐怖的障碍。其中包括致命的激光、异型犬爪和一个巨大的样品屋，在这个样品屋里艾丽斯见识到了保护伞公司导致这场危机的邪恶研究成果。艾丽斯也很快发现了这些僵尸是该公司的一项最新的研究方案----变种T-病毒造成的结果。
T-病毒最初的设计方案是抗衰老、治疗神经方面的疾病，它具有激活死亡细胞的能力。艾丽斯意识到这肯定是一个神秘的破坏者偷走了这个病毒，并把它释放到“蜂巢”的空气中。这就是危机的爆发经过。谁会做这事呢？为什么要这样做？
面对这个巨型计算机，雷恩假意请红色女皇帮助他们。红色女皇同意了，但是坚持那些被感染的人一个也不允许逃走。当然，除非他们能首先找到克制这个病毒的反病毒。他们的有效办法就是利用遗传上的变种试验，也就是利用现在能摧毁所有僵尸的著名邪恶生物----舔食者(Licker)。舔食者每杀死一个人，他的力量就会增加，也使特遣队的工作更加危险。
特遣队能够及时打败红色女皇，在规定的时间内找到反病毒吗？或者，他们是否也会变成僵尸呢？如果能有人活着逃出邪恶“蜂巢”的话，会是谁？

电影幕后
游戏玩家不用想就知道这是又一部改编自PS游戏的电影。日本Capcom公司1996年推出的游戏BIOHAZARD（在美国因为发行时和一部电影重名改为RESIDENT EVIL）是恐怖类冒险游戏的开山之作，在全世界受到极大欢迎，后连续出了几个续集。
很早就有传言要拍《生化危机》电影版，事实上1996年有一个日本版的《生化危机》。德国Constantin电影公司很重视这部片子，找导演就花了好一阵子。经典恐怖片《活死人之夜》的导演乔治·罗梅罗最先被认为是导演人选，他本身是恐怖片大师，而日本为生化危机游戏拍的广告也是出自罗梅罗之手，但据说由于在剧本上和公司不能达成一致，最终公司选择了保罗·安德森。
保罗·安德森是出生于纽卡斯尔的英国导演，（另有一位出生于美国加州的导演保罗·托马斯·安德森，有作品《不羁夜》《木兰花》），此前曾执导过《魔宫帝国》(Mortal Kombat)、《惊爆地平线》(Event Horizon)和《兵人》(The Soldier)等片，有趣的是《兵人》后来被改编成了电脑游戏。
